About Me

Professionally, my primary passion is harnessing the written word to captivate the potential customer as a means to establish and convey the brand voice and mission. I’ve spent the past four years developing a brand identity for a medium-sized aftermarket automotive company through e-commerce channels as well as directly connecting with customers within their market niche. My latest endeavor included developing relationships with social media influencers and key customers, growing their Instagram following by 136% in nine months.

As the company grew, my responsibilities included copywriting for websites, e-commerce listings, newsletters, and marketing materials. I also wrote, produced, and presented all of the technical and marketing videos while maintaining the company YouTube channel. Through these endeavors, I honed search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, while tracking analytics of relevant key points of interest (KPI). One of my more prosperous social media initiatives involved partnering with an automotive YouTube channel which culminated with the second most successful marketing promotion in company history.

Prior to that, I was the fourth person to join a startup staffing agency where I assumed the role of chief operating officer. I developed and implemented the corporate accounting system and also developed and implemented a local area network including a file server and shared printers. I managed human resources and payroll tasks for both internal staff and external temporary placements. Additionally, I wrote the copy for the websites, marketing materials, and internal training documents.

I am a graduate of the department of communication at University of California, San Diego.  My studies focused on the production of media, the effects of contextual framing on the broadcast of a particular idea, as well as the implication of gender on the function of that context.  While there, I co-authored “”Booyah Jim”: The Construction of Hegemonic Masculinity in CNBC ‘Mad Money′ Phone-in Interactions” which was published in “Discourse, Context and Media.”

Outside of the classroom, I participated in the practical side of media as an Executive Producer at Triton Television, a student-run organization that produces both commissioned and recreational short films. I also served as editor-in-chief on the student newspaper while attending junior college where I honed my writing and reporting skills.

After graduation, I interned with Acorn Woods Communications, a boutique PR agency which focuses on clients in the motorsport fields.  My duties there included generating copy and layouts for various advertising materials, as well as graphic design and light code development for web applications.

Prior to entering academia, I spent five years working in the automotive field, both as a technician and a salesperson.  Despite a long interest in all things motorized, I came to understand the limitations of my career path and decided to pursue my interests in digital media.  I still manage to get my hands dirty restoring vintage cars on a hobby level and occasionally assisting public relations teams during motorsport event coverage, most recently the 2012 Long Beach Grand Prix and the 2012 Waste Management Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally.

I look forward to discussing how I can move your organization to the next level!
